How to convert Ethereum to Monerium GBP emoney

Converting ETH to GBPe on NEAR Mobile Swap is done in three simple steps through the NEAR Intents protocol: Deposit, Swap, and Withdraw.

Step 1 — Deposit ETH from Ethereum
Go to the Deposit tab and select Ethereum (ETH) on Ethereum. The widget will generate a deposit address (or QR code) — send your ETH there from any wallet. Once the deposit is confirmed on Ethereum, your ETH balance appears inside NEAR Intents.

Step 2 — Swap ETH to GBPe on NEAR Intents
Switch to the Swap tab, pick ETH as the source and GBPe as the target. Enter the amount and confirm — solvers compete to fill your order and the swap settles in seconds.

Step 3 — Withdraw GBPe to Gnosis Chain
Finally, go to the Withdraw tab. Select Monerium GBP emoney (GBPe) from your NEAR Intents balance and choose Gnosis Chain as the destination. Enter an address from any EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby and confirm.

⚠ Important: When entering a withdrawal address, make sure it is a personal wallet you control. Some centralized exchanges do not support receiving funds from smart-contract-based deposits — sending to an exchange address may result in lost funds.

About the ETHGBPe swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your ETH leaves Ethereum and GBPe arrives on Gnosis Chain. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is GBPe on Gnosis Chain, not a wrapped copy you have to bridge again.

Swapping ETH to GBPe converts a volatile asset into a pound-pegged stablecoin — a common way to lock in a price or step out of market swings without off-ramping to a bank account.

About Ethereum and Monerium GBP emoney

What is Ethereum (ETH)?

Ether (ETH) powers Ethereum, a programmable blockchain proposed by Vitalik Buterin in 2013 and launched in July 2015 by a group of co-founders. Rather than acting only as money, Ethereum runs smart contracts, which let developers deploy applications that execute exactly as written.

How Ethereum works

Since the Merge in September 2022, Ethereum has been secured by Proof of Stake: validators lock up ETH, propose and attest to blocks, and can lose part of their stake for misbehaviour. Every operation on the network costs gas, which is paid in ETH and compensates validators for processing transactions.

What ETH is used for

ETH pays for transaction fees and is widely used as collateral in decentralized finance, from lending protocols to decentralized exchanges. Holders also stake it to help secure the network and earn protocol rewards.

ETH supply

Ether has no fixed maximum supply. New ETH is issued to validators, while the base fee of every transaction is burned under EIP-1559, so net supply can rise or fall depending on network activity.

Before you swap ETH

Make sure your withdrawal goes to an address on Ethereum mainnet and not to a layer-2 or another EVM network that uses the same address format. Gas prices on Ethereum fluctuate with demand, which can affect the cost of moving ETH in or out.

What is Monerium GBP emoney (GBPe)?

GBPe is the pound sterling counterpart to Monerium's euro token, issued by the Icelandic electronic money institution that holds an e-money licence covering the EEA, UK and Switzerland. It lives primarily on Gnosis Chain, where it supports sterling spending through Gnosis Pay cards.

How Monerium GBP emoney works

Monerium creates GBPe when pounds are received into a user's linked account and destroys tokens that are redeemed, returning sterling to the bank. Each unit is a legal e-money claim on Monerium backed one-to-one by segregated GBP reserves; the listing uses the V2 contract introduced during Monerium's token upgrade.

What GBPe is used for

UK-based users hold GBPe to spend in pounds with a Gnosis Pay card or to send sterling on-chain without touching dollar stablecoins. Some DeFi users also swap it against EURe or USD tokens for currency exposure.

GBPe supply

Supply is uncapped and mirrors the sterling held by Monerium, rising with issuance and shrinking with redemptions.

Before you swap GBPe

GBPe moves on Gnosis Chain here, with xDAI needed for any later transactions. It is pegged to the pound, and on-chain liquidity is modest compared with major dollar stablecoins, so larger swaps may see more price impact.
