What is Aurora (AURORA)?

How Aurora works
Aurora runs the EVM as a smart contract on NEAR, so Ethereum-style transactions are ultimately finalized by NEAR's proof-of-stake validators. AURORA itself was deployed as a non-upgradable ERC-20 on Ethereum and moved to NEAR and Aurora through the Rainbow Bridge.
What AURORA is used for
AURORA is used to vote in AuroraDAO, which governs the network's parameters and treasury. It is also traded and supplied as liquidity in NEAR and Aurora DeFi.
AURORA supply
The supply is fixed at 1 billion AURORA, all minted at genesis, with most of it released through long-term vesting schedules for the team, investors and ecosystem funds.
Before you swap AURORA
The widget moves AURORA as a NEAR token, so use a NEAR account as the destination; the same token also exists on Ethereum and Aurora, so confirm which version your wallet expects.
