What is Gnosis (GNO)?
GNO is the governance and staking token of the Gnosis ecosystem, founded by Martin Köppelmann and Stefan George. It was first sold in a 2017 token sale to fund prediction-market software; today the ecosystem centres on GnosisDAO and Gnosis Chain, while the Gnosis Safe wallet it once incubated has become the independent Safe project.

How Gnosis works
Gnosis Chain is an EVM network that uses an Ethereum-style proof-of-stake beacon chain, where each validator stakes 1 GNO. The low stake requirement is designed to keep running a validator affordable. GNO holders also vote on GnosisDAO proposals that steer the treasury and protocol.
What GNO is used for
GNO is staked to secure Gnosis Chain and earn validator rewards, and it is used to vote in GnosisDAO governance. It also trades as an ERC-20 on Ethereum and as a bridged token on Gnosis Chain.
GNO supply
Under the GIP-35 proposal, GnosisDAO committed to a total supply of about 3 million GNO and burned unvested tokens to get there, cutting the original 10 million supply by roughly 70 percent.
Before you swap GNO
In this widget GNO is delivered on Gnosis Chain, not Ethereum, so make sure your wallet is set to that network. You will need a little xDAI, the chain's gas token, to move it afterwards.
