How to convert GNEAR to Tether

The widget above is already set to GNEAR on NEAR → USDT on Ethereum. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect a NEAR wallet such as NEAR Mobile or Meteor that holds your GNEAR. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on NEAR for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much GNEAR to swap and the Ethereum address that receives the USDT, from any EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby. The widget shows how much USDT you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on NEAR, solvers fill the swap and the USDT is sent to your address on Ethereum. If the swap can't be filled, your GNEAR is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds GNEAR to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the USDT to an exchange instead, check that it accepts USDT on Ethereum: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the GNEAR → USDT swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your GNEAR leaves NEAR and USDT arrives on Ethereum. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is USDT on Ethereum, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Swapping GNEAR to USDT converts a volatile asset into a dollar-pegged stablecoin, a common way to lock in a price or step out of market swings without off-ramping to a bank account.

About GNEAR and Tether

What is GNEAR (GNEAR)?

GNEAR launched on 15 October 2024 on meme.cooking, the NEAR meme launchpad, as meme #229. Its whole pitch is to be cheerful: 'Whether you're trading, staking, or just sipping your coffee, $GNEAR is here to brighten your day.' On X, the @GnearAi account speaks as 'your buddy Gnear'. The token metadata on chain uses the lowercase name gnear.

How GNEAR works

GNEAR is a plain NEP-141 token with no mint function. Its meme.cooking round reached the 500 NEAR hard cap within an hour and launched straight away, with about half the tokens going to depositors and half into a Rhea Finance pool whose LP shares are locked.

What GNEAR is used for

It is traded as a NEAR community meme. No utility, roadmap or product has been published.

GNEAR supply

A fixed 1 billion GNEAR were minted at launch, with no team allocation.

Before you swap GNEAR

Check the contract gnear-229.meme-cooking.near, since explorers show the ticker in lowercase. Liquidity sits in a small Rhea pool, so prices move quickly and large orders face heavy price impact.

What is Tether (USDT)?

Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of one US dollar, issued by the company Tether since 2014. Having started on Bitcoin's Omni Layer, it has since expanded to many blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON, Solana and others.

How Tether works

Tether creates new USDT when verified customers deposit dollars and redeems tokens for dollars when they are returned, so the supply follows demand. The company reports holding reserve assets, mainly US Treasury bills and cash equivalents, to back the tokens in circulation and publishes periodic attestations of those reserves.

What USDT is used for

Traders use USDT to park funds between trades and as a quote currency on exchanges around the world. It is also common for cross-border payments and for saving in dollars in places with volatile local currencies.

USDT supply

There is no fixed supply: tokens are minted when dollars come in and burned when they are redeemed. The goal is for each USDT to be backed by reserves worth at least one dollar.

Before you swap USDT

USDT exists on many networks, and the swap widget defaults to the Ethereum version, so confirm the selected network matches the chain of your wallet before sending or receiving. Sending USDT over the wrong network can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.
