How to convert Meta Pool DAO to NEAR Protocol

Converting mpDAO to NEAR on NEAR Mobile Swap is done in three simple steps through the NEAR Intents protocol: Deposit, Swap, and Withdraw.

Step 1 — Deposit mpDAO from NEAR
Go to the Deposit tab and select Meta Pool DAO (mpDAO) on NEAR. The widget will generate a deposit address (or QR code) — send your mpDAO there from any wallet. Once the deposit is confirmed on NEAR, your mpDAO balance appears inside NEAR Intents.

Step 2 — Swap mpDAO to NEAR on NEAR Intents
Switch to the Swap tab, pick mpDAO as the source and NEAR as the target. Enter the amount and confirm — solvers compete to fill your order and the swap settles in seconds.

Step 3 — Withdraw NEAR to NEAR
Finally, go to the Withdraw tab. Select NEAR Protocol (NEAR) from your NEAR Intents balance and choose NEAR as the destination. Enter an address from a NEAR wallet such as NEAR Mobile or Meteor and confirm.

⚠ Important: When entering a withdrawal address, make sure it is a personal wallet you control. Some centralized exchanges do not support receiving funds from smart-contract-based deposits — sending to an exchange address may result in lost funds.

About the mpDAONEAR swap

mpDAO and NEAR both live on NEAR, so you deposit and withdraw on the same network. NEAR Intents still routes the trade through its solver network, which means you get a competitive quote without picking a DEX or an aggregator yourself.

Both mpDAO and NEAR float against the dollar, so the mpDAO/NEAR rate moves with two markets at once. Traders use this pair to rotate between ecosystems in a single step instead of selling to a stablecoin first.

About Meta Pool DAO and NEAR Protocol

What is Meta Pool DAO (mpDAO)?

mpDAO governs Meta Pool, the liquid staking provider that issues stNEAR on NEAR and has expanded to other networks. It replaced the earlier META token in April 2024 through the mpIP-3 proposal, which swapped locked META for locked mpDAO one for one, and it was also launched on Ethereum.

How Meta Pool DAO works

Holders lock mpDAO for 30 to 300 days to get voting power. A 30-day lock gives half a vote per token and a 300-day lock gives five. Those votes decide which validators receive the share of Meta Pool's NEAR stake that the DAO controls, and they are also used on governance proposals.

What mpDAO is used for

Stakers and validators lock the token to steer stake delegation and vote on protocol changes. Locked holders who vote also qualify for a monthly share of Meta Pool fees, paid in assets such as stNEAR or mpDAO.

mpDAO supply

Total supply is fixed at 1 billion tokens, the same cap and allocation as the old META token, which included community, founder, investor and team shares with multi-year vesting.

Before you swap mpDAO

Swaps here use the NEAR version (mpdao-token.near). There is also an ERC-20 on Ethereum, so check which network you are sending to. Tokens you receive are unlocked; you need to lock them in Meta Pool to vote.

What is NEAR Protocol (NEAR)?

NEAR Protocol is a smart contract platform co-founded by Illia Polosukhin and Alexander Skidanov, with its mainnet going live in 2020. The network focuses on usability, offering human-readable account names such as alice.near instead of long hexadecimal addresses. It is also the chain behind NEAR Intents, the cross-chain swap system that NEAR Mobile Swap uses.

How NEAR Protocol works

Validators stake NEAR in a Proof of Stake system to produce blocks and confirm transactions. Nightshade sharding splits the network into parallel shards that process transactions side by side, which lets capacity grow as more shards are added.

What NEAR is used for

NEAR is spent on transaction fees and contract storage, and it is delegated to validators by holders who want staking rewards. Developers also use the chain for decentralized apps, AI agents and chain abstraction tools that operate across several blockchains.

NEAR supply

NEAR started with a genesis supply of one billion tokens and has no hard cap. New tokens are minted each epoch to reward validators, with the maximum annual inflation rate halved from 5% to 2.5% in October 2025, while 70% of transaction fees are burned.

Before you swap NEAR

When withdrawing to NEAR, you can send to a named account (like name.near) or to a 64-character implicit account, so check you have the correct one. Keep a little NEAR in your wallet to cover gas and storage for future transactions.
