How to convert NEAR Protocol to Aleo

The widget above is already set to NEAR on NEAR → ALEO on Aleo. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect a NEAR wallet such as NEAR Mobile or Meteor that holds your NEAR. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on NEAR for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much NEAR to swap and the Aleo address that receives the ALEO, from an Aleo wallet such as Shield or FoxWallet. The widget shows how much ALEO you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on NEAR, solvers fill the swap and the ALEO is sent to your address on Aleo. If the swap can't be filled, your NEAR is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds NEAR to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the ALEO to an exchange instead, check that it accepts ALEO on Aleo: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the NEAR → ALEO swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your NEAR leaves NEAR and ALEO arrives on Aleo. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is ALEO on Aleo, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Both NEAR and ALEO float against the dollar, so the NEAR/ALEO rate moves with two markets at once. Traders use this pair to rotate between ecosystems in a single step instead of selling to a stablecoin first.

About NEAR Protocol and Aleo

What is NEAR Protocol (NEAR)?

NEAR Protocol is a smart contract platform co-founded by Illia Polosukhin and Alexander Skidanov, with its mainnet going live in 2020. The network focuses on usability, offering human-readable account names such as alice.near instead of long hexadecimal addresses. It is also the chain behind NEAR Intents, the cross-chain swap system that NEAR Mobile Swap uses.

How NEAR Protocol works

Validators stake NEAR in a Proof of Stake system to produce blocks and confirm transactions. Nightshade sharding splits the network into parallel shards that process transactions side by side, which lets capacity grow as more shards are added.

What NEAR is used for

NEAR is spent on transaction fees and contract storage, and it is delegated to validators by holders who want staking rewards. Developers also use the chain for decentralized apps, AI agents and chain abstraction tools that operate across several blockchains.

NEAR supply

NEAR started with a genesis supply of one billion tokens and has no hard cap. New tokens are minted each epoch to reward validators, with the maximum annual inflation rate halved from 5% to 2.5% in October 2025, while at least 70% of every transaction fee is burned.

Before you swap NEAR

When withdrawing to NEAR, you can send to a named account (like name.near) or to a 64-character implicit account, so check you have the correct one. Keep a little NEAR in your wallet to cover gas and storage for future transactions.

What is Aleo (ALEO)?

Aleo is a layer-1 blockchain for private applications whose mainnet went live in September 2024, putting the ideas of the Zexe research paper into production. Its node software is developed by Provable together with the Aleo Network Foundation.

How Aleo works

Applications, usually written in the Leo language, compile to circuits so that transactions carry zero-knowledge proofs, letting the network verify them without seeing private inputs. Validators stake ALEO and agree on blocks with AleoBFT, a proof-of-stake protocol based on Narwhal and Bullshark, while provers earn rewards for solving a proof-of-succinct-work puzzle. Since July 2025 provers must also stake ALEO for each solution they submit.

What ALEO is used for

ALEO pays network fees and is staked with validators for rewards. It can be held as a public balance or as encrypted private records, and the network also hosts private stablecoins such as USDCx and USAD.

ALEO supply

Aleo launched with 1.5 billion tokens and has no hard cap. New ALEO is minted every block to reward validators, stakers and provers, and the launch plan projected supply passing 2.6 billion within ten years as yearly emissions decline.

Before you swap ALEO

Aleo addresses start with aleo1 and are 63 characters long. Because ALEO can sit in a public balance or in private records, wallets may show the two separately, so if a transfer does not appear, check both. Keep a little ALEO for fees unless your wallet covers them.

What to know before swapping NEAR Protocol for Aleo

Use the widget on this page, already set to NEAR on NEAR → ALEO on Aleo: connect your wallet or pay by QR code, enter the amount and your Aleo address, and confirm. NEAR Intents swaps it and sends the ALEO to that address in one flow, and the widget shows the exact amount you will receive before you confirm.
