How to convert NEAR Protocol to Stellar

The widget above is already set to NEAR on NEAR → XLM on Stellar. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect a NEAR wallet such as NEAR Mobile or Meteor that holds your NEAR. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on NEAR for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much NEAR to swap and the Stellar address that receives the XLM, from a Stellar wallet such as LOBSTR or Freighter. The widget shows how much XLM you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on NEAR, solvers fill the swap and the XLM is sent to your address on Stellar. If the swap can't be filled, your NEAR is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds NEAR to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the XLM to an exchange instead, check that it accepts XLM on Stellar: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the NEAR → XLM swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your NEAR leaves NEAR and XLM arrives on Stellar. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is XLM on Stellar, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Both NEAR and XLM float against the dollar, so the NEAR/XLM rate moves with two markets at once. Traders use this pair to rotate between ecosystems in a single step instead of selling to a stablecoin first.

About NEAR Protocol and Stellar

What is NEAR Protocol (NEAR)?

NEAR Protocol is a smart contract platform co-founded by Illia Polosukhin and Alexander Skidanov, with its mainnet going live in 2020. The network focuses on usability, offering human-readable account names such as alice.near instead of long hexadecimal addresses. It is also the chain behind NEAR Intents, the cross-chain swap system that NEAR Mobile Swap uses.

How NEAR Protocol works

Validators stake NEAR in a Proof of Stake system to produce blocks and confirm transactions. Nightshade sharding splits the network into parallel shards that process transactions side by side, which lets capacity grow as more shards are added.

What NEAR is used for

NEAR is spent on transaction fees and contract storage, and it is delegated to validators by holders who want staking rewards. Developers also use the chain for decentralized apps, AI agents and chain abstraction tools that operate across several blockchains.

NEAR supply

NEAR started with a genesis supply of one billion tokens and has no hard cap. New tokens are minted each epoch to reward validators, with the maximum annual inflation rate halved from 5% to 2.5% in October 2025, while at least 70% of every transaction fee is burned.

Before you swap NEAR

When withdrawing to NEAR, you can send to a named account (like name.near) or to a 64-character implicit account, so check you have the correct one. Keep a little NEAR in your wallet to cover gas and storage for future transactions.

What is Stellar (XLM)?

Stellar is an open-source payments network that went live in 2014, co-founded by Jed McCaleb and Joyce Kim and supported by the non-profit Stellar Development Foundation. Lumens (XLM) are its native asset, and the network is built for moving value and issuing tokens such as stablecoins.

How Stellar works

Stellar uses neither mining nor staking. Validators run the Stellar Consensus Protocol, a federated Byzantine agreement in which nodes rely on sets of peers they trust, and the network reaches consensus in under six seconds. The ledger has a built-in exchange for issued assets and, since February 2024, Soroban smart contracts.

What XLM is used for

XLM pays transaction fees, from 100 stroops (0.00001 XLM) per operation, and covers the minimum balance every account must hold. Payment apps and ramp providers use Stellar to move stablecoins and local currencies across borders.

XLM supply

One hundred billion lumens were created at launch. A 1% yearly inflation added more until validators voted to end it on 28 October 2019, and in November 2019 the foundation burned about 55 billion of its own lumens, leaving roughly 50 billion XLM with no new issuance.

Before you swap XLM

A new Stellar account only exists once it holds 1 XLM (two base reserves of 0.5 XLM), and each trustline or other entry locks another 0.5 XLM. Exchanges usually require a memo on XLM deposits, but the withdrawal field here takes only an address, so withdraw to your own wallet unless the exchange offers a muxed address starting with M. When depositing XLM manually, include the memo shown with the deposit address.

What to know before swapping NEAR Protocol for Stellar

Use the widget on this page, already set to NEAR on NEAR → XLM on Stellar: connect your wallet or pay by QR code, enter the amount and your Stellar address, and confirm. NEAR Intents swaps it and sends the XLM to that address in one flow, and the widget shows the exact amount you will receive before you confirm.
