How to convert Tether to Starknet

The widget above is already set to USDT on Ethereum → STRK on Starknet. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect any EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby that holds your USDT. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Ethereum for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much USDT to swap and the Starknet address that receives the STRK, from a Starknet wallet such as Braavos or Xverse. The widget shows how much STRK you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Ethereum, solvers fill the swap and the STRK is sent to your address on Starknet. If the swap can't be filled, your USDT is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds USDT to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the STRK to an exchange instead, check that it accepts STRK on Starknet: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the USDT → STRK swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your USDT leaves Ethereum and STRK arrives on Starknet. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is STRK on Starknet, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Swapping USDT to STRK is how you buy Starknet with US dollars you already hold on-chain: you pay in a stablecoin and receive STRK directly on Starknet.

About Tether and Starknet

What is Tether (USDT)?

Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of one US dollar, issued by the company Tether since 2014. Having started on Bitcoin's Omni Layer, it has since expanded to many blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON, Solana and others.

How Tether works

Tether creates new USDT when verified customers deposit dollars and redeems tokens for dollars when they are returned, so the supply follows demand. The company reports holding reserve assets, mainly US Treasury bills and cash equivalents, to back the tokens in circulation and publishes periodic attestations of those reserves.

What USDT is used for

Traders use USDT to park funds between trades and as a quote currency on exchanges around the world. It is also common for cross-border payments and for saving in dollars in places with volatile local currencies.

USDT supply

There is no fixed supply: tokens are minted when dollars come in and burned when they are redeemed. The goal is for each USDT to be backed by reserves worth at least one dollar.

Before you swap USDT

USDT exists on many networks, and the swap widget defaults to the Ethereum version, so confirm the selected network matches the chain of your wallet before sending or receiving. Sending USDT over the wrong network can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.

What is Starknet (STRK)?

Starknet is an Ethereum layer-2 network developed by StarkWare, whose alpha went live on Ethereum mainnet in November 2021. STRK is its native token: ten billion were minted on-chain on 30 November 2022, and they pay for fees, secure the network through staking and carry votes on protocol upgrades.

How Starknet works

Starknet is a validity rollup: it batches transactions and proves them with STARK proofs that are verified on Ethereum. Contracts are written in Cairo, and every account is a smart contract. Since the v0.14.0 upgrade in September 2025, several sequencers produce blocks using a consensus protocol, and STRK and BTC stakers attest to blocks as part of a phased move to staking-based consensus.

What STRK is used for

Since v0.14.0, STRK is the only token accepted for Starknet transaction fees. Holders also stake it or delegate it to validators for rewards, and vote directly or through delegates on protocol upgrades.

STRK supply

Ten billion STRK form the initial supply, with investor and early contributor tokens unlocking monthly until March 2027. There is no hard cap: the protocol mints new STRK as staking rewards under a schedule agreed with the community.

Before you swap STRK

Starknet addresses also start with 0x but are longer account addresses, so copy the one from your Starknet wallet; an Ethereum address will not reach it. A new account can receive STRK before it is deployed and gets deployed with its first outgoing transaction, which needs STRK for the fee. STRK also exists on Ethereum and Solana, but here it moves on Starknet.
