How to convert Tether to USAD

The widget above is already set to USDT on Ethereum → USAD on Aleo. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect any EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby that holds your USDT. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Ethereum for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much USDT to swap and the Aleo address that receives the USAD, from an Aleo wallet such as Shield or FoxWallet. The widget shows how much USAD you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Ethereum, solvers fill the swap and the USAD is sent to your address on Aleo. If the swap can't be filled, your USDT is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds USDT to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the USAD to an exchange instead, check that it accepts USAD on Aleo: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the USDT → USAD swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your USDT leaves Ethereum and USAD arrives on Aleo. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is USAD on Aleo, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

USDT and USAD are both dollar-pegged stablecoins, so the rate stays close to 1:1. People swap between them to move to the stablecoin a protocol or exchange accepts, or to change issuer or network without cashing out.

About Tether and USAD

What is Tether (USDT)?

Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of one US dollar, issued by the company Tether since 2014. Having started on Bitcoin's Omni Layer, it has since expanded to many blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON, Solana and others.

How Tether works

Tether creates new USDT when verified customers deposit dollars and redeems tokens for dollars when they are returned, so the supply follows demand. The company reports holding reserve assets, mainly US Treasury bills and cash equivalents, to back the tokens in circulation and publishes periodic attestations of those reserves.

What USDT is used for

Traders use USDT to park funds between trades and as a quote currency on exchanges around the world. It is also common for cross-border payments and for saving in dollars in places with volatile local currencies.

USDT supply

There is no fixed supply: tokens are minted when dollars come in and burned when they are redeemed. The goal is for each USDT to be backed by reserves worth at least one dollar.

Before you swap USDT

USDT exists on many networks, and the swap widget defaults to the Ethereum version, so confirm the selected network matches the chain of your wallet before sending or receiving. Sending USDT over the wrong network can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.

What is USAD (USAD)?

USAD is a dollar stablecoin on Aleo, a zero-knowledge layer-1 blockchain, issued by Paxos Labs, a spinout of Paxos. The Aleo Network Foundation and Paxos Labs announced it in October 2025, its token program was deployed on Aleo mainnet in January 2026, and the public mainnet launch followed in February 2026.

How USAD works

USAD is created from USDG or USDC deposited on Ethereum and represented on Aleo as shares of an Ethereum vault holding USDG, the Global Dollar Network token issued by Paxos Trust Company. On Aleo, addresses, amounts and balances can stay encrypted, while a compliance service holds a view key for lawful requests and the token program enforces a freeze list.

What USAD is used for

The issuers pitch USAD at confidential payroll, business payments and treasury management, where companies do not want salaries or supplier terms visible on a public ledger. The payroll provider Toku uses it to pay teams privately.

USAD supply

There is no fixed cap. USAD is minted against deposits and redeemed for USDG on Ethereum, and the USDG behind it is backed by US dollar deposits and short-term Treasuries with monthly third-party attestations.

Before you swap USAD

USAD is delivered on Aleo, so you need an Aleo wallet such as Shield and a little ALEO for network fees. It targets the US dollar, so swaps from other dollar stablecoins should price close to parity, but liquidity is thinner than for USDC or USDT, so check the quote.
