How to convert Tether to OKX Wrapped BTC

The widget above is already set to USDT on Ethereum → xBTC on Solana. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect any EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby that holds your USDT. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Ethereum for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much USDT to swap and the Solana address that receives the xBTC, from a Solana wallet such as Phantom or Solflare. The widget shows how much xBTC you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Ethereum, solvers fill the swap and the xBTC is sent to your address on Solana. If the swap can't be filled, your USDT is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds USDT to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the xBTC to an exchange instead, check that it accepts xBTC on Solana: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the USDT → xBTC swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your USDT leaves Ethereum and xBTC arrives on Solana. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is xBTC on Solana, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Swapping USDT to xBTC is how you buy OKX Wrapped BTC with US dollars you already hold on-chain: you pay in a stablecoin and receive xBTC directly on Solana.

About Tether and OKX Wrapped BTC

What is Tether (USDT)?

Tether (USDT) is a stablecoin designed to hold a value of one US dollar, issued by the company Tether since 2014. Having started on Bitcoin's Omni Layer, it has since expanded to many blockchains, including Ethereum, TRON, Solana and others.

How Tether works

Tether creates new USDT when verified customers deposit dollars and redeems tokens for dollars when they are returned, so the supply follows demand. The company reports holding reserve assets, mainly US Treasury bills and cash equivalents, to back the tokens in circulation and publishes periodic attestations of those reserves.

What USDT is used for

Traders use USDT to park funds between trades and as a quote currency on exchanges around the world. It is also common for cross-border payments and for saving in dollars in places with volatile local currencies.

USDT supply

There is no fixed supply: tokens are minted when dollars come in and burned when they are redeemed. The goal is for each USDT to be backed by reserves worth at least one dollar.

Before you swap USDT

USDT exists on many networks, and the swap widget defaults to the Ethereum version, so confirm the selected network matches the chain of your wallet before sending or receiving. Sending USDT over the wrong network can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.

What is OKX Wrapped BTC (xBTC)?

xBTC is a wrapped version of bitcoin issued by the OKX exchange. It launched on 22 May 2025 on Solana, Sui and Aptos, and the OKX product page now lists X Layer as well. The aim is to let BTC holders use their coins in on-chain apps on those networks while keeping bitcoin price exposure.

How OKX Wrapped BTC works

OKX holds the reserve. Withdrawing BTC from an OKX account to a supported chain delivers xBTC one-for-one, and depositing xBTC back to OKX converts it to BTC. OKX says the reserves are fully in its custody and verifiable through on-chain Proof of Reserves, and that the token contracts were audited by CertiK, MoveBit, MixBytes and Zellic.

What xBTC is used for

On Solana, xBTC gives users a bitcoin-priced asset for lending, liquidity pools and trading against other Solana tokens. It also lets OKX customers move BTC exposure on-chain without a third-party bridge.

xBTC supply

There is no fixed cap or emission schedule. Supply expands and contracts as customers convert between BTC and xBTC through OKX, matched 1:1 by the exchange's bitcoin reserves.

Before you swap xBTC

xBTC is a custodial token, not native bitcoin: its backing depends on OKX, and redeeming it for BTC requires an OKX account. On Solana it is a standard SPL token (not Token-2022) with 8 decimals, and OKX keeps a freeze authority over it. Keep a little SOL for fees and token-account rent, or pick BTC as the output if you want coins on the Bitcoin network.
