How to convert xDAI to Ethereum

Converting xDAI to ETH on NEAR Mobile Swap is done in three simple steps through the NEAR Intents protocol: Deposit, Swap, and Withdraw.

Step 1 — Deposit xDAI from Gnosis Chain
Go to the Deposit tab and select xDAI (xDAI) on Gnosis Chain. The widget will generate a deposit address (or QR code) — send your xDAI there from any wallet. Once the deposit is confirmed on Gnosis Chain, your xDAI balance appears inside NEAR Intents.

Step 2 — Swap xDAI to ETH on NEAR Intents
Switch to the Swap tab, pick xDAI as the source and ETH as the target. Enter the amount and confirm — solvers compete to fill your order and the swap settles in seconds.

Step 3 — Withdraw ETH to Ethereum
Finally, go to the Withdraw tab. Select Ethereum (ETH) from your NEAR Intents balance and choose Ethereum as the destination. Enter an address from any EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby and confirm.

⚠ Important: When entering a withdrawal address, make sure it is a personal wallet you control. Some centralized exchanges do not support receiving funds from smart-contract-based deposits — sending to an exchange address may result in lost funds.

About the xDAIETH swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your xDAI leaves Gnosis Chain and ETH arrives on Ethereum. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is ETH on Ethereum, not a wrapped copy you have to bridge again.

Swapping xDAI to ETH is how you buy Ethereum with US dollars you already hold on-chain: you pay in a stablecoin and receive ETH directly on Ethereum.

About xDAI and Ethereum

What is xDAI (xDAI)?

xDAI is the native currency of Gnosis Chain, the EVM network that began in 2018 as the xDai Chain built by POA Network and later merged into the Gnosis ecosystem. Unlike most gas tokens, it tracks the US dollar, so fees and payments on the chain are denominated in a stable unit.

How xDAI works

Users deposit a dollar stablecoin into the xDai bridge contract on Ethereum, and the same amount of xDAI is minted on Gnosis Chain; burning xDAI releases the locked funds back on Ethereum. The bridge historically accepted DAI and, since an upgrade in late 2025, uses USDS as its default token, with idle reserves placed in Sky's savings products.

What xDAI is used for

Everyone transacting on Gnosis Chain needs xDAI to pay gas. Because it stays close to one dollar, it also serves as a low-cost medium for payments and transfers.

xDAI supply

There is no fixed cap: xDAI supply expands and contracts one-for-one with the stablecoins locked in the bridge. It is not mined or issued as a validator reward; Gnosis Chain secures itself with the separate GNO token.

Before you swap xDAI

This asset is the native coin of Gnosis Chain, so receiving it also covers your gas there. Its value follows the US dollar, so swapping into it works like moving into a USD stablecoin on that chain.

What is Ethereum (ETH)?

Ether (ETH) powers Ethereum, a programmable blockchain proposed by Vitalik Buterin in 2013 and launched in July 2015 by a group of co-founders. Rather than acting only as money, Ethereum runs smart contracts, which let developers deploy applications that execute exactly as written.

How Ethereum works

Since the Merge in September 2022, Ethereum has been secured by Proof of Stake: validators lock up ETH, propose and attest to blocks, and can lose part of their stake for misbehaviour. Every operation on the network costs gas, which is paid in ETH and compensates validators for processing transactions.

What ETH is used for

ETH pays for transaction fees and is widely used as collateral in decentralized finance, from lending protocols to decentralized exchanges. Holders also stake it to help secure the network and earn protocol rewards.

ETH supply

Ether has no fixed maximum supply. New ETH is issued to validators, while the base fee of every transaction is burned under EIP-1559, so net supply can rise or fall depending on network activity.

Before you swap ETH

Make sure your withdrawal goes to an address on Ethereum mainnet and not to a layer-2 or another EVM network that uses the same address format. Gas prices on Ethereum fluctuate with demand, which can affect the cost of moving ETH in or out.
