How to convert NearKat to Bitcoin

Converting NearKat to BTC on NEAR Mobile Swap is done in three simple steps through the NEAR Intents protocol: Deposit, Swap, and Withdraw.

Step 1 — Deposit NearKat from NEAR
Go to the Deposit tab and select NearKat (NearKat) on NEAR. The widget will generate a deposit address (or QR code) — send your NearKat there from any wallet. Once the deposit is confirmed on NEAR, your NearKat balance appears inside NEAR Intents.

Step 2 — Swap NearKat to BTC on NEAR Intents
Switch to the Swap tab, pick NearKat as the source and BTC as the target. Enter the amount and confirm — solvers compete to fill your order and the swap settles in seconds.

Step 3 — Withdraw BTC to Bitcoin
Finally, go to the Withdraw tab. Select Bitcoin (BTC) from your NEAR Intents balance and choose Bitcoin as the destination. Enter an address from any Bitcoin wallet and confirm.

⚠ Important: When entering a withdrawal address, make sure it is a personal wallet you control. Some centralized exchanges do not support receiving funds from smart-contract-based deposits — sending to an exchange address may result in lost funds.

About the NearKatBTC swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your NearKat leaves NEAR and BTC arrives on Bitcoin. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is BTC on Bitcoin, not a wrapped copy you have to bridge again.

Meme tokens move fast and can swing widely within minutes, so the quote shown in the widget is valid only for a short window. Check the amount you will receive right before you confirm.

About NearKat and Bitcoin

What is NearKat (NearKat)?

NearKat is a community meme token on NEAR that trades under the ticker KAT and is based on the Nearkat, the meerkat-like character NEAR used as an early mascot. Its contract, kat.token0.near, was deployed in September 2024, and it is a fan project, not an official NEAR Foundation release.

How NearKat works

KAT is a basic NEP-141 fungible token with no staking, fee or governance system. Its story is a joke about Nearkats working in peer-to-peer networks and eating bugs.

What NearKat is used for

Holders trade it and use it for community engagement around NEAR mascot culture. The team has also done offline promotions, including a NearKat-branded candy sold at a Dubai sweet shop.

NearKat supply

A fixed supply of 1 billion KAT was minted, and CoinGecko reports the full amount as tradable.

Before you swap NearKat

The widget shows it as NearKat, but explorers and other markets usually list it as KAT, so check the contract kat.token0.near. It moves on NEAR with small liquidity, so prices can move quickly.

What is Bitcoin (BTC)?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, described in a 2008 white paper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto and brought to life when its network went live in January 2009. BTC is the native unit of that network and moves directly between users without a bank or payment processor in the middle.

How Bitcoin works

Miners compete to add blocks by running SHA-256 hashing hardware in a Proof of Work process, and the chain with the most accumulated work is treated as valid. Every full node independently checks each transaction against the rules, so the ledger's history becomes harder to alter with every block stacked on top.

What BTC is used for

Most holders treat BTC as a long-term store of value and a hedge outside the traditional financial system. It is also used for cross-border transfers, as collateral in lending markets, and as a base trading pair across the crypto industry.

BTC supply

The protocol limits total issuance to 21 million BTC. New coins enter circulation only as block rewards, and that reward is cut in half roughly every four years in an event known as the halving.

Before you swap BTC

Bitcoin blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, so a BTC deposit can take noticeably longer to confirm than deposits on faster chains. Double-check the receiving address format before withdrawing, since Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed.
