How to convert USAD to Bitcoin

The widget above is already set to USAD on Aleo → BTC on Bitcoin. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect an Aleo wallet such as Shield or FoxWallet that holds your USAD. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Aleo for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much USAD to swap and the Bitcoin address that receives the BTC, from any Bitcoin wallet. The widget shows how much BTC you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Aleo, solvers fill the swap and the BTC is sent to your address on Bitcoin. If the swap can't be filled, your USAD is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds USAD to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the BTC to an exchange instead, check that it accepts BTC on Bitcoin: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the USAD → BTC swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your USAD leaves Aleo and BTC arrives on Bitcoin. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is BTC on Bitcoin, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Swapping USAD to BTC is how you buy Bitcoin with US dollars you already hold on-chain: you pay in a stablecoin and receive BTC directly on Bitcoin.

About USAD and Bitcoin

What is USAD (USAD)?

USAD is a dollar stablecoin on Aleo, a zero-knowledge layer-1 blockchain, issued by Paxos Labs, a spinout of Paxos. The Aleo Network Foundation and Paxos Labs announced it in October 2025, its token program was deployed on Aleo mainnet in January 2026, and the public mainnet launch followed in February 2026.

How USAD works

USAD is created from USDG or USDC deposited on Ethereum and represented on Aleo as shares of an Ethereum vault holding USDG, the Global Dollar Network token issued by Paxos Trust Company. On Aleo, addresses, amounts and balances can stay encrypted, while a compliance service holds a view key for lawful requests and the token program enforces a freeze list.

What USAD is used for

The issuers pitch USAD at confidential payroll, business payments and treasury management, where companies do not want salaries or supplier terms visible on a public ledger. The payroll provider Toku uses it to pay teams privately.

USAD supply

There is no fixed cap. USAD is minted against deposits and redeemed for USDG on Ethereum, and the USDG behind it is backed by US dollar deposits and short-term Treasuries with monthly third-party attestations.

Before you swap USAD

USAD is delivered on Aleo, so you need an Aleo wallet such as Shield and a little ALEO for network fees. It targets the US dollar, so swaps from other dollar stablecoins should price close to parity, but liquidity is thinner than for USDC or USDT, so check the quote.

What is Bitcoin (BTC)?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, described in a 2008 white paper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto and brought to life when its network went live in January 2009. BTC is the native unit of that network and moves directly between users without a bank or payment processor in the middle.

How Bitcoin works

Miners compete to add blocks by running SHA-256 hashing hardware in a Proof of Work process, and the chain with the most accumulated work is treated as valid. Every full node independently checks each transaction against the rules, so the ledger's history becomes harder to alter with every block stacked on top.

What BTC is used for

Most holders treat BTC as a long-term store of value and a hedge outside the traditional financial system. It is also used for cross-border transfers, as collateral in lending markets, and as a base trading pair across the crypto industry.

BTC supply

The protocol limits total issuance to 21 million BTC. New coins enter circulation only as block rewards, and that reward is cut in half roughly every four years in an event known as the halving.

Before you swap BTC

Bitcoin blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, so a BTC deposit can take noticeably longer to confirm than deposits on faster chains. Double-check the receiving address format before withdrawing, since Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed.

What to know before swapping USAD for Bitcoin

Use the widget on this page, already set to USAD on Aleo → BTC on Bitcoin: connect your wallet or pay by QR code, enter the amount and your Bitcoin address, and confirm. NEAR Intents swaps it and sends the BTC to that address in one flow, and the widget shows the exact amount you will receive before you confirm.
