How to convert xDAI to NEAR Protocol

Converting xDAI to NEAR on NEAR Mobile Swap is done in three simple steps through the NEAR Intents protocol: Deposit, Swap, and Withdraw.

Step 1 — Deposit xDAI from Gnosis Chain
Go to the Deposit tab and select xDAI (xDAI) on Gnosis Chain. The widget will generate a deposit address (or QR code) — send your xDAI there from any wallet. Once the deposit is confirmed on Gnosis Chain, your xDAI balance appears inside NEAR Intents.

Step 2 — Swap xDAI to NEAR on NEAR Intents
Switch to the Swap tab, pick xDAI as the source and NEAR as the target. Enter the amount and confirm — solvers compete to fill your order and the swap settles in seconds.

Step 3 — Withdraw NEAR to NEAR
Finally, go to the Withdraw tab. Select NEAR Protocol (NEAR) from your NEAR Intents balance and choose NEAR as the destination. Enter an address from a NEAR wallet such as NEAR Mobile or Meteor and confirm.

⚠ Important: When entering a withdrawal address, make sure it is a personal wallet you control. Some centralized exchanges do not support receiving funds from smart-contract-based deposits — sending to an exchange address may result in lost funds.

About the xDAINEAR swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your xDAI leaves Gnosis Chain and NEAR arrives on NEAR. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is NEAR on NEAR, not a wrapped copy you have to bridge again.

Swapping xDAI to NEAR is how you buy NEAR Protocol with US dollars you already hold on-chain: you pay in a stablecoin and receive NEAR directly on NEAR.

About xDAI and NEAR Protocol

What is xDAI (xDAI)?

xDAI is the native currency of Gnosis Chain, the EVM network that began in 2018 as the xDai Chain built by POA Network and later merged into the Gnosis ecosystem. Unlike most gas tokens, it tracks the US dollar, so fees and payments on the chain are denominated in a stable unit.

How xDAI works

Users deposit a dollar stablecoin into the xDai bridge contract on Ethereum, and the same amount of xDAI is minted on Gnosis Chain; burning xDAI releases the locked funds back on Ethereum. The bridge historically accepted DAI and, since an upgrade in late 2025, uses USDS as its default token, with idle reserves placed in Sky's savings products.

What xDAI is used for

Everyone transacting on Gnosis Chain needs xDAI to pay gas. Because it stays close to one dollar, it also serves as a low-cost medium for payments and transfers.

xDAI supply

There is no fixed cap: xDAI supply expands and contracts one-for-one with the stablecoins locked in the bridge. It is not mined or issued as a validator reward; Gnosis Chain secures itself with the separate GNO token.

Before you swap xDAI

This asset is the native coin of Gnosis Chain, so receiving it also covers your gas there. Its value follows the US dollar, so swapping into it works like moving into a USD stablecoin on that chain.

What is NEAR Protocol (NEAR)?

NEAR Protocol is a smart contract platform co-founded by Illia Polosukhin and Alexander Skidanov, with its mainnet going live in 2020. The network focuses on usability, offering human-readable account names such as alice.near instead of long hexadecimal addresses. It is also the chain behind NEAR Intents, the cross-chain swap system that NEAR Mobile Swap uses.

How NEAR Protocol works

Validators stake NEAR in a Proof of Stake system to produce blocks and confirm transactions. Nightshade sharding splits the network into parallel shards that process transactions side by side, which lets capacity grow as more shards are added.

What NEAR is used for

NEAR is spent on transaction fees and contract storage, and it is delegated to validators by holders who want staking rewards. Developers also use the chain for decentralized apps, AI agents and chain abstraction tools that operate across several blockchains.

NEAR supply

NEAR started with a genesis supply of one billion tokens and has no hard cap. New tokens are minted each epoch to reward validators, with the maximum annual inflation rate halved from 5% to 2.5% in October 2025, while 70% of transaction fees are burned.

Before you swap NEAR

When withdrawing to NEAR, you can send to a named account (like name.near) or to a 64-character implicit account, so check you have the correct one. Keep a little NEAR in your wallet to cover gas and storage for future transactions.
