How to convert Bitcoin to Bitcoin Cash

The widget above is already set to BTC on Bitcoin → BCH on Bitcoin Cash. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect any Bitcoin wallet that holds your BTC. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Bitcoin for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much BTC to swap and the Bitcoin Cash address that receives the BCH, from a Bitcoin Cash wallet such as Electron Cash or Paytaca. The widget shows how much BCH you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Bitcoin, solvers fill the swap and the BCH is sent to your address on Bitcoin Cash. If the swap can't be filled, your BTC is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds BTC to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the BCH to an exchange instead, check that it accepts BCH on Bitcoin Cash: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the BTC → BCH swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your BTC leaves Bitcoin and BCH arrives on Bitcoin Cash. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is BCH on Bitcoin Cash, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Both BTC and BCH float against the dollar, so the BTC/BCH rate moves with two markets at once. Traders use this pair to rotate between ecosystems in a single step instead of selling to a stablecoin first.

About Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash

What is Bitcoin (BTC)?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, described in a 2008 white paper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto and brought to life when its network went live in January 2009. BTC is the native unit of that network and moves directly between users without a bank or payment processor in the middle.

How Bitcoin works

Miners compete to add blocks by running SHA-256 hashing hardware in a Proof of Work process, and the chain with the most accumulated work is treated as valid. Every full node independently checks each transaction against the rules, so the ledger's history becomes harder to alter with every block stacked on top.

What BTC is used for

Most holders treat BTC as a long-term store of value and a hedge outside the traditional financial system. It is also used for cross-border transfers, as collateral in lending markets, and as a base trading pair across the crypto industry.

BTC supply

The protocol limits total issuance to 21 million BTC. New coins enter circulation only as block rewards, and that reward is cut in half roughly every four years in an event known as the halving.

Before you swap BTC

Bitcoin blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, so a BTC deposit can take noticeably longer to confirm than deposits on faster chains. Double-check the receiving address format before withdrawing, since Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed.

What is Bitcoin Cash (BCH)?

Bitcoin Cash (BCH) split from Bitcoin on 1 August 2017 after a long debate over how to scale the network. Its supporters wanted Bitcoin to grow on-chain as everyday electronic cash rather than as a settlement layer, so the new chain kept Bitcoin's history up to the split and then took its own path toward bigger blocks and low fees.

How Bitcoin Cash works

BCH is mined with SHA-256 Proof of Work and targets one block every ten minutes, like Bitcoin. Since May 2024 an adaptive algorithm sets the block size limit according to demand, and network upgrades on 15 May each year have added native tokens (CashTokens, 2023), high-precision arithmetic (2025) and loops and functions for smart contracts (2026).

What BCH is used for

BCH is used for peer-to-peer payments and merchant checkouts, where a typical network fee of less than a cent matters. CashTokens also let developers issue fungible tokens and NFTs directly on the chain.

BCH supply

Bitcoin Cash keeps Bitcoin's monetary rules: issuance is capped at 21 million BCH, and the block reward halves every 210,000 blocks, roughly every four years.

Before you swap BCH

Bitcoin Cash addresses come in the CashAddr format (bitcoincash:q... or p...) and in a legacy format starting with 1 or 3 that looks exactly like a Bitcoin address, so make sure the destination is a BCH wallet before withdrawing. Blocks arrive about every ten minutes, so allow some time for a deposit to confirm.

What to know before swapping Bitcoin for Bitcoin Cash

Use the widget on this page, already set to BTC on Bitcoin → BCH on Bitcoin Cash: connect your wallet or pay by QR code, enter the amount and your Bitcoin Cash address, and confirm. NEAR Intents swaps it and sends the BCH to that address in one flow, and the widget shows the exact amount you will receive before you confirm.
