How to convert Bitcoin to GNEAR

The widget above is already set to BTC on Bitcoin → GNEAR on NEAR. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect any Bitcoin wallet that holds your BTC. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Bitcoin for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much BTC to swap and the NEAR address that receives the GNEAR, from a NEAR wallet such as NEAR Mobile or Meteor. The widget shows how much GNEAR you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Bitcoin, solvers fill the swap and the GNEAR is sent to your address on NEAR. If the swap can't be filled, your BTC is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds BTC to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the GNEAR to an exchange instead, check that it accepts GNEAR on NEAR: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the BTC → GNEAR swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your BTC leaves Bitcoin and GNEAR arrives on NEAR. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is GNEAR on NEAR, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Meme tokens move fast and can swing widely within minutes, so the quote shown in the widget is valid only for a short window. Check the amount you will receive right before you confirm.

About Bitcoin and GNEAR

What is Bitcoin (BTC)?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, described in a 2008 white paper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto and brought to life when its network went live in January 2009. BTC is the native unit of that network and moves directly between users without a bank or payment processor in the middle.

How Bitcoin works

Miners compete to add blocks by running SHA-256 hashing hardware in a Proof of Work process, and the chain with the most accumulated work is treated as valid. Every full node independently checks each transaction against the rules, so the ledger's history becomes harder to alter with every block stacked on top.

What BTC is used for

Most holders treat BTC as a long-term store of value and a hedge outside the traditional financial system. It is also used for cross-border transfers, as collateral in lending markets, and as a base trading pair across the crypto industry.

BTC supply

The protocol limits total issuance to 21 million BTC. New coins enter circulation only as block rewards, and that reward is cut in half roughly every four years in an event known as the halving.

Before you swap BTC

Bitcoin blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, so a BTC deposit can take noticeably longer to confirm than deposits on faster chains. Double-check the receiving address format before withdrawing, since Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed.

What is GNEAR (GNEAR)?

GNEAR launched on 15 October 2024 on meme.cooking, the NEAR meme launchpad, as meme #229. Its whole pitch is to be cheerful: 'Whether you're trading, staking, or just sipping your coffee, $GNEAR is here to brighten your day.' On X, the @GnearAi account speaks as 'your buddy Gnear'. The token metadata on chain uses the lowercase name gnear.

How GNEAR works

GNEAR is a plain NEP-141 token with no mint function. Its meme.cooking round reached the 500 NEAR hard cap within an hour and launched straight away, with about half the tokens going to depositors and half into a Rhea Finance pool whose LP shares are locked.

What GNEAR is used for

It is traded as a NEAR community meme. No utility, roadmap or product has been published.

GNEAR supply

A fixed 1 billion GNEAR were minted at launch, with no team allocation.

Before you swap GNEAR

Check the contract gnear-229.meme-cooking.near, since explorers show the ticker in lowercase. Liquidity sits in a small Rhea pool, so prices move quickly and large orders face heavy price impact.
