How to convert Bitcoin to Starknet

The widget above is already set to BTC on Bitcoin → STRK on Starknet. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect any Bitcoin wallet that holds your BTC. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Bitcoin for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much BTC to swap and the Starknet address that receives the STRK, from a Starknet wallet such as Braavos or Xverse. The widget shows how much STRK you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Bitcoin, solvers fill the swap and the STRK is sent to your address on Starknet. If the swap can't be filled, your BTC is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds BTC to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the STRK to an exchange instead, check that it accepts STRK on Starknet: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the BTC → STRK swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your BTC leaves Bitcoin and STRK arrives on Starknet. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is STRK on Starknet, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Both BTC and STRK float against the dollar, so the BTC/STRK rate moves with two markets at once. Traders use this pair to rotate between ecosystems in a single step instead of selling to a stablecoin first.

About Bitcoin and Starknet

What is Bitcoin (BTC)?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, described in a 2008 white paper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto and brought to life when its network went live in January 2009. BTC is the native unit of that network and moves directly between users without a bank or payment processor in the middle.

How Bitcoin works

Miners compete to add blocks by running SHA-256 hashing hardware in a Proof of Work process, and the chain with the most accumulated work is treated as valid. Every full node independently checks each transaction against the rules, so the ledger's history becomes harder to alter with every block stacked on top.

What BTC is used for

Most holders treat BTC as a long-term store of value and a hedge outside the traditional financial system. It is also used for cross-border transfers, as collateral in lending markets, and as a base trading pair across the crypto industry.

BTC supply

The protocol limits total issuance to 21 million BTC. New coins enter circulation only as block rewards, and that reward is cut in half roughly every four years in an event known as the halving.

Before you swap BTC

Bitcoin blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, so a BTC deposit can take noticeably longer to confirm than deposits on faster chains. Double-check the receiving address format before withdrawing, since Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed.

What is Starknet (STRK)?

Starknet is an Ethereum layer-2 network developed by StarkWare, whose alpha went live on Ethereum mainnet in November 2021. STRK is its native token: ten billion were minted on-chain on 30 November 2022, and they pay for fees, secure the network through staking and carry votes on protocol upgrades.

How Starknet works

Starknet is a validity rollup: it batches transactions and proves them with STARK proofs that are verified on Ethereum. Contracts are written in Cairo, and every account is a smart contract. Since the v0.14.0 upgrade in September 2025, several sequencers produce blocks using a consensus protocol, and STRK and BTC stakers attest to blocks as part of a phased move to staking-based consensus.

What STRK is used for

Since v0.14.0, STRK is the only token accepted for Starknet transaction fees. Holders also stake it or delegate it to validators for rewards, and vote directly or through delegates on protocol upgrades.

STRK supply

Ten billion STRK form the initial supply, with investor and early contributor tokens unlocking monthly until March 2027. There is no hard cap: the protocol mints new STRK as staking rewards under a schedule agreed with the community.

Before you swap STRK

Starknet addresses also start with 0x but are longer account addresses, so copy the one from your Starknet wallet; an Ethereum address will not reach it. A new account can receive STRK before it is deployed and gets deployed with its first outgoing transaction, which needs STRK for the fee. STRK also exists on Ethereum and Solana, but here it moves on Starknet.
