How to convert Bitcoin to USDCx on Aleo

The widget above is already set to BTC on Bitcoin → USDCx on Aleo. The whole swap runs in one flow through NEAR Intents:

Step 1: Choose how to pay
Connect any Bitcoin wallet that holds your BTC. Or turn on Swap from external wallet to get a deposit address and QR code you can pay from any wallet or exchange; you then add an address on Bitcoin for refunds.

Step 2: Enter the amount and where to receive
Type how much BTC to swap and the Aleo address that receives the USDCx, from an Aleo wallet such as Shield or FoxWallet. The widget shows how much USDCx you will receive, fees included, before you confirm.

Step 3: Confirm and send
Approve the transfer in your wallet, or send the amount to the deposit address. Once it confirms on Bitcoin, solvers fill the swap and the USDCx is sent to your address on Aleo. If the swap can't be filled, your BTC is refunded.

Prefer to keep a balance inside NEAR Intents? The Deposit tab adds BTC to it, Swap trades within it, and Withdraw sends tokens out to their own networks.

⚠ Important: receive on an address you control. If you send the USDCx to an exchange instead, check that it accepts USDCx on Aleo: some exchanges don't credit deposits that come from a smart contract.

About the BTC → USDCx swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your BTC leaves Bitcoin and USDCx arrives on Aleo. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is USDCx on Aleo, ready to use there with no second bridging step.

Swapping BTC to USDCx converts a volatile asset into a dollar-pegged stablecoin, a common way to lock in a price or step out of market swings without off-ramping to a bank account.

About Bitcoin and USDCx on Aleo

What is Bitcoin (BTC)?

Bitcoin is the first decentralized cryptocurrency, described in a 2008 white paper by the pseudonymous Satoshi Nakamoto and brought to life when its network went live in January 2009. BTC is the native unit of that network and moves directly between users without a bank or payment processor in the middle.

How Bitcoin works

Miners compete to add blocks by running SHA-256 hashing hardware in a Proof of Work process, and the chain with the most accumulated work is treated as valid. Every full node independently checks each transaction against the rules, so the ledger's history becomes harder to alter with every block stacked on top.

What BTC is used for

Most holders treat BTC as a long-term store of value and a hedge outside the traditional financial system. It is also used for cross-border transfers, as collateral in lending markets, and as a base trading pair across the crypto industry.

BTC supply

The protocol limits total issuance to 21 million BTC. New coins enter circulation only as block rewards, and that reward is cut in half roughly every four years in an event known as the halving.

Before you swap BTC

Bitcoin blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, so a BTC deposit can take noticeably longer to confirm than deposits on faster chains. Double-check the receiving address format before withdrawing, since Bitcoin transactions cannot be reversed.

What is USDCx on Aleo (USDCx)?

USDCx is a dollar stablecoin on Aleo, the zero-knowledge layer-1 network, backed one-for-one by USDC held in Circle xReserve. It is not native USDC: Circle issues USDC, while USDCx is a USDC-backed token that Aleo launched using xReserve. It went live on testnet in December 2025 and on mainnet in January 2026.

How USDCx on Aleo works

To mint, a user deposits USDC into the xReserve contract on Ethereum or Arc; Circle attests the deposit and the Aleo bridge program mints USDCx. Burning USDCx on Aleo releases USDC on those chains. On Aleo, sender, receiver and amount are encrypted by default, but private transfers also create a compliance record for a designated address, and a freeze list blocks sanctioned addresses.

What USDCx is used for

Aleo and Circle position USDCx for payroll, vendor payments, remittances, aid distribution and DeFi, where people want dollar settlement without publishing balances and counterparties. Launch partners included the payroll provider Toku.

USDCx supply

There is no fixed cap. Supply rises when USDC is locked in xReserve and falls when USDCx is burned to withdraw it, keeping a 1:1 link with the USDC in reserve.

Before you swap USDCx

USDCx is delivered on Aleo, so you need an Aleo wallet such as Shield and a little ALEO for fees. Its privacy features only apply on Aleo; USDCx on Movement is a separate token. It targets the US dollar, so swaps from USDC or USDT should price close to parity.
