How to convert Meta Pool DAO to USD Coin

Converting mpDAO to USDC on NEAR Mobile Swap is done in three simple steps through the NEAR Intents protocol: Deposit, Swap, and Withdraw.

Step 1 — Deposit mpDAO from NEAR
Go to the Deposit tab and select Meta Pool DAO (mpDAO) on NEAR. The widget will generate a deposit address (or QR code) — send your mpDAO there from any wallet. Once the deposit is confirmed on NEAR, your mpDAO balance appears inside NEAR Intents.

Step 2 — Swap mpDAO to USDC on NEAR Intents
Switch to the Swap tab, pick mpDAO as the source and USDC as the target. Enter the amount and confirm — solvers compete to fill your order and the swap settles in seconds.

Step 3 — Withdraw USDC to Ethereum
Finally, go to the Withdraw tab. Select USD Coin (USDC) from your NEAR Intents balance and choose Ethereum as the destination. Enter an address from any EVM wallet such as MetaMask or Rabby and confirm.

⚠ Important: When entering a withdrawal address, make sure it is a personal wallet you control. Some centralized exchanges do not support receiving funds from smart-contract-based deposits — sending to an exchange address may result in lost funds.

About the mpDAOUSDC swap

This is a cross-chain swap: your mpDAO leaves NEAR and USDC arrives on Ethereum. Normally that takes a bridge plus a DEX, or a centralized exchange account. With NEAR Intents the deposit, swap and withdrawal happen in one flow, and what lands in your wallet is USDC on Ethereum, not a wrapped copy you have to bridge again.

Swapping mpDAO to USDC converts a volatile asset into a dollar-pegged stablecoin — a common way to lock in a price or step out of market swings without off-ramping to a bank account.

About Meta Pool DAO and USD Coin

What is Meta Pool DAO (mpDAO)?

mpDAO governs Meta Pool, the liquid staking provider that issues stNEAR on NEAR and has expanded to other networks. It replaced the earlier META token in April 2024 through the mpIP-3 proposal, which swapped locked META for locked mpDAO one for one, and it was also launched on Ethereum.

How Meta Pool DAO works

Holders lock mpDAO for 30 to 300 days to get voting power. A 30-day lock gives half a vote per token and a 300-day lock gives five. Those votes decide which validators receive the share of Meta Pool's NEAR stake that the DAO controls, and they are also used on governance proposals.

What mpDAO is used for

Stakers and validators lock the token to steer stake delegation and vote on protocol changes. Locked holders who vote also qualify for a monthly share of Meta Pool fees, paid in assets such as stNEAR or mpDAO.

mpDAO supply

Total supply is fixed at 1 billion tokens, the same cap and allocation as the old META token, which included community, founder, investor and team shares with multi-year vesting.

Before you swap mpDAO

Swaps here use the NEAR version (mpdao-token.near). There is also an ERC-20 on Ethereum, so check which network you are sending to. Tokens you receive are unlocked; you need to lock them in Meta Pool to vote.

What is USD Coin (USDC)?

USDC is a US dollar stablecoin issued by Circle, first launched in September 2018 through the Centre consortium that Circle founded with Coinbase. Circle now manages the token directly, and USDC is issued natively on a range of blockchains, with Ethereum among the largest.

How USD Coin works

Each USDC is meant to be redeemable for one dollar, and Circle mints or burns tokens as institutional customers deposit or withdraw funds. Reserves are held in cash and short-dated US government obligations, largely through a dedicated fund, and Circle publishes regular reports on their composition.

What USDC is used for

USDC is widely used for settlement and payments, both in crypto markets and in business transfers that benefit from moving dollars at any hour. In decentralized finance it serves as a common unit for lending, liquidity pools and trading.

USDC supply

Supply is elastic: USDC is created when dollars are deposited and destroyed when it is redeemed. Circle aims to keep reserves equal to or greater than the amount of USDC in circulation.

Before you swap USDC

The widget defaults to USDC on Ethereum, but the same token also lives on Solana, NEAR, Base and other chains, so select the network your wallet actually uses. Beware of bridged versions with similar names, which are not the same as natively issued USDC.
